Soul Workshop and Concert with The Drifters frontman Steve V King
The Maidenhead Community Choir was delighted to hold a soul workshop and concert with former Drifters lead-singer Steve V King on July 28th. Using repertoire from The Drifters charismatic vocalist Steve showed us how to warm-up, create an expressive performance and add some smooth moves to the song. After the workshop we held a concert—Steve V King sang songs from the history of The Drifters, the Maidenhead Community Choir performed a few soul numbers, and they joined forces on The Drifters' hit 'Under the Boardwalk' and finished off the concert with a mash-up of 'Love Train/Put a Little Love in Your Heart'.
The workshop was open to the public and we got a wonderful number of participants from the local community. The church was packed full and everyone had a great time.
