Our annual Christmas Concert, 'A Celebration of Christmas' took place this year at the United Reform Church in Maidenhead.

On the 14th December we held our Christmas social at Elizabeth House in Cookham, with members enjoying a casual singalong around the piano with mulled wine.

PAST EVENTS

Members of the choir have returned from our third sold-out singing holiday in Andalusia, Spain. The week was a great success with members taking part in art workshops, flamenco dancing, ukulele playing, a concert and even some chicken hugging!

​28th June 2016 School's out for summer!

The summer term was given over to a light repertoire of happy music. We hand­jived along to ’Surfing USA’, crooned ‘Love me Tender’ and tackled songs by Queen and Louis Armstrong.

​19th July 2016 Drumming Workshop

On a hot summer's night our singers were treated on an African Drumming Workshop, led by Simon Davie, Advanced Skills teacher at Cox Green School. We learned various rhythms from West Africa on big Conga Drums and had lots of fun!

3rd July 2016 Picnic Social at Taplow Court

We celebrated the end of term with a big choir picnic at stunning Taplow Court. Everybody contributed delicious food and we enjoyed a lovely sunny afternoon together.

We performed in St George's Hall at Windsor Castle on December 10 - the first Community Choir ever to have the privilege to do so! Our performance was part of the Festive Weekend which was held at Windsor Castle over the weekend of the 10th and 11th. You can find out more information here.

14th October 2016 Social at the Blue River Cafe

We held our termly choir social on October 14th at 7:00pm, a meal at the Blue River Cafe at Maidenhead riverside.
 

4th ​March 2017 Brassed-Off Social

For our next social members of the choir were invited to join us to see Brassed Off, performed by The Grimm Players at Desborough Theatre on Saturday 4th March at 6pm. More information can be found here.

​21st May 2017 Sculpture Garden Social

For our spring social members of the choir were invited to join us to the sculpture garden exhibition at the Odney Club in Cookham, followed by afternoon tea.

​16th July 2017 Gospel Workshop

One July 16th we held a gospel workshop at the Methodist Church for members of the choir and the public, lead by one of the UK's most respected and award winning Gospel Choir leaders, Ms Karen Gibson, a powerhouse of inspiration and energy.

The workshop was a great success and a high note to end our productive summer term on. The workshop was followed by a short concert attended by family and friends. You can watch a video of the concert on YouTube.

​1st July 2017 Ockwells Park ​Social

We were delighted to return to Windsor Castle once again this Christmas for another performance in the Castle grounds. The festive weekend took place over the 9th-10th December.

On the 1st July we had our summer social with members of the choir meeting for a leisurely walk in Ockwells Park.

​28th April 2018 Spring Festival Concert

Our Spring concert was on the 28th April at the Amphitheatre in Maidenhead as part of Maidenhead Arts Council's Spring Festival of the Arts. Despite the poor weather we were pleased to draw a crowd in from passers-by and visitors to the library.

The Maidenhead Community Choir is delighted to offer a soul workshop and concert with former Drifters lead-singer Steve V King.

Using repertoire from The Drifters charismatic vocalist Steve will show how to warm-up, create an expressive performance and add some smooth moves to the song.

There will be a public concert after the workshop and workshop participants will have the chance to perform with Steve and a band.

The workshop is open to the public and will be at 5pm on Saturday 28th July with the concert straight after. Click to see the event page on Facebook and find tickets on Eventbrite.

​30th June 2018 Summer Social

Our next summer social will be a potluck garden party held on 30th June at choir member Joy's house. If you need details on where to come, please contact us. Don't forget your instruments!
