maidenhead community choir - Company Message

The Maidenhead Community Choir is a friendly and inclusive choir for all singers, old and young, experienced and novices and from all musical backgrounds.

We meet on Tuesday nights at 7.00pm for an hour and fifteen minutes of music and fun. There are no auditions, no need to read music and the emphasis is on singing for the sheer joy of it.

The repertoire reaches from Gospel, Swing, Barbershop, Folk, and Musical Theater to Pop and Rock. Although this is a light-hearted choral group there is also work on vocal technique, musicianship and performance skills.

We believe in keeping music life, so Joy Reibl, our professional pianist is proficiently accompanying the singers. The choir is run largely in the aural tradition, therefore much is being learned by ear, actual sheet music will be provided for more complex pieces.

Our Facebook group allows interactive communication between choir members and rehearsal recordings can be accessed via sound cloud.

Norden Farm is the ideal venue for the choir where we rehearse in the beautiful 18 century Long Barn with the opportunity to mingle in the bar afterwards and meet new people. It also provides the perfect setting for some of the concerts that we work towards.

Every summer Tina invites a choral leader of a renowned choir  who runs a workshop with the us, culminating in a joint performance.

In the past five years we have shared concerts with the distinguished London Adventist Chorale under Ken Burton, Reading Christ Church Choir and Reading Community Gospel Choir and many other local choirs as well as performing at Cliveden and the Southbank in London.

In 2012 we won the Biggs cup for Mixed Voice choirs. In July 2013 we performed at Taplow Court with Howard Jones and his Glorious Life Chorus.

Another highlight in 2013 was our  participation in a  performance of  the opera 'Too Hot to Handel' at Windsor Theatre Royal. In October we backed singer songwriter Charlie Dore and her partner Julian Littman at a concert.

We are just preparing for a week long singing holiday in Turkey after our successful retreat in Spain last year.
